From the Principal!

Howdy Fabra Families,

A huge shout-out to our Fabra PTO, staff, and volunteers for making last week's Howl at the Moon Fall Festival such a success! Although the weather wasn't the best, the event was absolutely packed, and it was an incredible evening. Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy the festivities and to all those who worked behind the scenes to make it happen. We are grateful for the support of our Fabra Family!

This week is National School Psychology Week, and we want to recognize our very own LSSP, Mrs. Wicketts-Lopez. She is such a valuable resource to our campus, and she always brings a smile and a positive attitude wherever she goes. We appreciate all she does for our students and staff!

We also enjoyed seeing Mrs. Schoch's class at the Boerne Handmade Market today, where they were selling some of their handcrafted treats. It was great to see our students sharing their creativity and talents with the community!

Tonight, the Boerne High School Greyhounds will take the field for their final home game of the regular season. Our very own Ryker Jones will be honored as the Player of the Game! We look forward to seeing her help the Hounds bring home another win and are proud of the wonderful way she represents Fabra.

Next week, we look forward to celebrating Veterans Day and honoring the brave men and women who have served our country. If you are a veteran or know a veteran who would like to attend our celebration, please help them pre-register so we can recognize them.

Thank you for another great week at Fabra! We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, and as always, be sure to check out the newsletter for additional dates and upcoming events.

Dear Fabra Elementary Families and Friends,

We are excited to invite you to our Veteran’s Day Program, Wednesday, November 11th at 8:30am. While the event is open to all, we kindly request that our visitors be veterans themselves or family members of veterans, as it is our hope to honor them during this special program.

A light breakfast will be provided for our veteran guests at 8:00 AM, and the program will begin at 8:30 AM.

If you have a friend or family member who is a veteran and would like to attend but will not receive this email, please help them pre-check in so that we can have their visitor badge ready. Please complete the pre-check link by 1:00pm Tuesday, November 10th.  All guests will need their valid I.D. to receive their visitor's badge.

You can access the pre-check link here:

We look forward to honoring the brave men and women who have served our country with you!

YMCA Turkey Trot Info!!

Our Green Machine Run Club is gearing up for YMCA Turkey Trot on November 21st at Main Plaza.  We have been the largest group to participate for the last five years, and we are planning to make it a sixth straight year! We invite all of our families who would like to participate to consider joining us!   While we will have staff members at the event and participating in the race, all students will need a guardian at the event the whole time, and we also encourage a family member to participate with them.

For our younger runners:
  • Children age 11 and under can register for the 5K for $25 through November 20.
  • The 1-Mile Walk is $20 for children age 11 and under through October 31. After October 31, the price increases to $25.
  • No discount code is needed for children. The reduced registration price is automatically applied based on age.

From the Library

CAUGHT READING!
Throughout the school year, teachers and I will be “catching kids reading”—and that’s a great thing! When a student is caught reading, they’ll receive a special ticket. They’ll write their first and last name, along with their grade level, on the ticket and drop it into the jar at the library checkout desk.
Every Tuesday, I’ll draw one ticket during the morning announcements. The lucky reader will win some fun library swag!
This week's winner is Landon Bastian, 5th grade!

LIBRARY BOOKS

LIBRARY LESSONS FOR NEXT WEEK
Next week, we will continue our Book Tasting on Monday and with my Tuesday classes that missed their library time due to interim testing.
On Wednesday, we will begin our Figurative Language lessons for 3rd–5th grade. These lessons will reinforce and support the concepts students are learning in their classrooms.
Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade will enjoy read-alouds followed by discussions and questions focused on the author's purpose.
I'm looking forward to another great week of learning in the library!

Have a parent, grandparent, neighbor, or friend who loves good food, great company, and a little Boerne spirit? Help us spread the word!

The Boerne Breakfast Club is getting together next week, and we’re rolling out the welcome mat for our community members ages 65 and older with:
  • Free breakfast
  • Free Boerne ISD t-shirt
  • Great conversations, new friendships, and plenty of Boerne pride!

Anyone 65 or better who lives within Boerne ISD boundaries is invited to join the fun. Share this with someone who should be there or, better yet, give them a call and invite them personally! We cannot wait to welcome them to the table.

Help Us Reach Our Falcon Funds Goal!

Thank you to the families who have already supported Falcon Funds! We have received $7,000.00 toward our goal, and we truly appreciate your generosity.
Falcon Funds allows us to  support meaningful experiences and incentives for our students, including field trips, academic supports, student and teacher incentives, character celebrations, STAAR snacks, and more. Most importantly, 100% of your donation goes directly to Fabra Elementary to support our students and staff.
If you haven’t had a chance to contribute, we would greatly appreciate your support. Donations can be sent to school in your child’s green folder, or you can donate online using the link provided below.
Every contribution, big or small, helps us reach our goal and provide even more opportunities for our Falcons. Thank you for continuing to support Fabra!

Calling All Falcon Fathers!

Spend the day at Fabra!
Falcon fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures....Would you like to volunteer for at least one day each year? During the day, Falcon Fathers may read to a classroom, play at recess, help out in P.E, eat lunch with students and any other assigned activities where they actively engage with not only their own students, but other students as well. On the day of their participation, Falcon Fathers are given a brief review of their involvement and get to wear an official Falcon Father t-shirt.

Please limit your initial sign-up to only ONE date, and additionally sign-up for the "Waitlist" slot if you would like to be notified of last minute openings that would allow you to participate again.
