Howdy Fabra Families!
Our newsletter is coming a day early this week as we head into Fall Break! There will be no school for students tomorrow, Monday, or Tuesday. We hope everyone enjoys the extra time together, gets some rest, and has a chance to recharge. We look forward to kicking off the second nine weeks when we return on Wednesday, October 14.
As we begin the second nine weeks, grades will be available for families to view in Skyward on Wednesday, October 14. We encourage you to take some time to review them with your child and celebrate their accomplishments from the first nine weeks while also talking about areas for continued growth as we begin the second nine weeks.
We wrapped up the first nine weeks with lots of fun at Fabra! Our kindergarten students took their first field trip to the Ag Barn and had a blast learning about and interacting with the animals. We also held our first Student Council Spirit Day today with our Teacher/Student Swap. It was a great time, and I’m still not sure who enjoyed it more — the kiddos or the staff!
Although there is no school tomorrow, there will be a SnowCone Social from 3:00–6:00 p.m. at The Stand by The Dienger. Ten percent of the proceeds will be donated to Fabra PTO, so we hope you’ll stop by and enjoy a sweet treat while supporting our campus!
Have a wonderful Fall Break, Fabra Family! Enjoy the time off, make some memories, and we’ll see everyone back on Wednesday. As always, be sure to check out the rest of the newsletter for other upcoming events, important dates, and news from around Fabra.

This week, we want to take a moment to celebrate Mrs. Cook for Instructional Coach Day! We are incredibly lucky to have her at Fabra. Mrs. Cook is always looking for ways to support our teachers, make PLCs more meaningful, and help us continue to grow in our instruction. More than anything, she is someone our teachers can count on. She listens, collaborates, asks the right questions, and is always willing to jump in and help. We appreciate all she does for our teachers and students each and every day. Thank you, Mrs. Cook, for being such an important part of our Fabra Family!

Our Green Machine RUn Club is gearing up for YMCA Turkey Trot on November 21st at Main Plaza. We have been the largest group to participate for the last five years, and we are planning to make it a sixth straight year! WE invite all of our families who would like to participate to consider joining us! The YMCA has graciously provided a discount code so that our staff and family members can participate at a discounted cost. While we will have staff members at the event and participating in the race, all students will need a guardian at the event the whole time, and we also encourage a family member to participate with them.
Please note that the coupon code is case-sensitive and must be entered exactly as shown. The code is valid for adult 5K registrations from October 6 through October 18 at midnight.
For our younger runners:
- Children age 11 and under can register for the 5K for $25 through November 20.
- The 1-Mile Walk is $20 for children age 11 and under through October 31. After October 31, the price increases to $25.
- No discount code is needed for children. The reduced registration price is automatically applied based on age.
Important: To guarantee a Turkey Trot T-shirt and participation medal, participants must be registered by October 31.
Adults and family members can receive $10 off the 5K registration with the special coupon code below:

Thank you to the families who have already supported Falcon Funds! We have received $6,700.00 toward our goal, and we truly appreciate your generosity.
Falcon Funds allows us to support meaningful experiences and incentives for our students, including field trips, academic supports, student and teacher incentives, character celebrations, STAAR snacks, and more. Most importantly, 100% of your donation goes directly to Fabra Elementary to support our students and staff.
If you haven’t had a chance to contribute, we would greatly appreciate your support. Donations can be sent to school in your child’s green folder, or you can donate online using the link provided below.
Every contribution, big or small, helps us reach our goal and provide even more opportunities for our Falcons. Thank you for continuing to support Fabra!

Spend the day at Fabra!
Falcon fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures....Would you like to volunteer for at least one day each year? During the day, Falcon Fathers may read to a classroom, play at recess, help out in P.E, eat lunch with students and any other assigned activities where they actively engage with not only their own students, but other students as well. On the day of their participation, Falcon Fathers are given a brief review of their involvement and get to wear an official Falcon Father t-shirt.
Please limit your initial sign-up to only ONE date, and additionally sign-up for the "Waitlist" slot if you would like to be notified of last minute openings that would allow you to participate again.
All Falcon Fathers will need to complete a full background check with the district prior to volunteering. Here is the link below:

CAUGHT READING!
Throughout the school year, teachers and I will be “catching kids reading”—and that’s a great thing! When a student is caught reading, they’ll receive a special ticket. They’ll write their first and last name, along with their grade level, on the ticket and drop it into the jar at the library checkout desk.
Every Tuesday, I’ll draw one ticket during the morning announcements. The lucky reader will win some fun library swag!
This week's winner is Lila Griffin in 5th grade!

📚 It’s Book Fair Time! 📚
All of our students will have the opportunity to preview the Book Fair and create their wish lists on Friday, 10/23 & Monday, 10/26. Please take a moment to review their wish lists with your child and discuss whether you'd like them to purchase any books.
Students will only return to the Book Fair if they bring money to make a purchase.

- The Book Fair will be open from 7:15 AM to 2:45 PM each day.
- You’re welcome to shop with your child! To avoid missing instructional time, please coordinate with their teacher in advance.

💳 Payment Options
- We accept cash, checks (made out to Fabra Elementary), and credit cards.
- You can also set up a Scholastic eWallet for a safe, cash-free option. I can access the eWallet amount at the register.

Our Fabra PTO is always looking for ways to improve how we connect with and serve our Fabra families. To that end, we’ve partnered with a new technology partner called Growing Grounds for our website!
Our goal is to provide a smoother, easier experience for everything you do with us — shopping Fabra spiritwear, registering for events, and making donations — whether you’re on your phone or your computer.
Sign up today! Registration is free, and you’ll need an account to access school events, so don’t wait. Creating an account is the best way to stay up to date on all PTO activities and happenings throughout the year.
Check back often — they'll be rolling out new features all year to help parents, teachers, PTO board members, and administrators collaborate better in support of our students.
